Henry Salas was born in Miami, Florida. He graduated with honors from the University of Miami, with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1986. While at the University of Miami, he was on the Dean’s list, and was an active member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, Order of Omega Honorary Society, Interfraternity Council, and was Co-Chair of the Greek Week Committee. In, 1989, Mr. Salas earned a Juris Doctor degree and graduated with honors and top twenty percent from Nova University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. While at Nova University, he was also on the Dean’s list and received the Law Center Scholarship and several book awards on Criminal Law and Civil Procedure. He also completed several hands-on trial skills seminars. Mr. Salas was an adjunct professor at Nova University where he taught pre-trial and trial skills to second year law students. He was also a student aide for the United States Peace Corps where he assisted in processing volunteer applications. From 1987 To 1989, Henry Salas practiced as a Law Clerk for Rumberger, Kirk and Caldwell and from 1989 to 1991 as an associate in which his responsibilities included all pretrial and trial activities including drafting of pleadings, motions, discovery, mediations, arbitrations and settlement conferences. Appellate activities included drafting of briefs and extraordinary writs in the United States Supreme Court and the Third and Fourth District Courts of Appeal. Areas of practice included product liability, insurance defense, Florida Lemon Law, Workers' Compensation and commercial litigation. In 1992, Mr. Salas was an Associate at Steel, Hector & Davis where he concentrated in Federal and State Civil Litigation and Federal Criminal Practice. Responsibilities included all pretrial and trial activities. He worked under the guidance and supervision of former State and Federal Judge Thomas E. Scott, presently U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida. From 1993 To 1995, Mr. Salas also practiced as an Associate for Davis, Scott, Weber and Edwards where he specialized in Federal and State Civil Litigation and Federal Criminal Practice. While at the firm, Trial work included defense of white-collar criminal actions in the United States District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida and for the District of Columbia. From 1995 to 1999, he returned to work as a partner for Rumberger, Kirk & Caldwell where he focused on Federal and State Civil and Criminal Litigation with primary emphasis on handling of admiralty and products liability matters. He was also responsible for case management from intake through trial. As a partner with the Law Offices of Salas, Ede, Peterson and Lage, L.L.C., he continues to specialize in Federal and State Civil Litigation with emphasis on defense of admiralty cases involving crew ship members and passenger claims. He also concentrates on product liability and commercial litigation cases. Mr. Salas is admitted to the Florida Bar. He is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Florida. He is an active member of the American Bar Association, the Dade County Bar Association and the Cuban American Bar Association. |
