Salas, Ede, Peterson & Lage, L.L.C. ("SEPL ") was established in February of 1999. Henry Salas and Douglas Ede, were partners at Rumberger Kirk & Caldwell, a large Florida law firm. Gus Lage was an associate at Rumberger, Kirk & Caldwell, and Michael Peterson was an associate at Gunster, Yoakley, Valdes-Fauli & Stewart, another large Florida law firm. In addition to the four partners and secretarial staff, SEPL currently has three associates: Raul E. Salas, Andres A. Fernandez and Craig H. Temple and two paralegals. SEPL's practice is very diversified. With regard to litigation matters, SEPL represents clients in commercial litigation, construction litigation, insurance defense, products liability defense, admiralty, and criminal defense cases. SEPL also represents clients in real-estate transactions, both commercial and residential business acquisitions, and contract negotiation and preparation. After only 17 months, SEPL already received an AV rating from Martindale- Hubbell. SEPL's partners have extensive litigation experience. Henry Salas' practice is concentrated in the areas of admiralty and product liability defense. Douglas Ede's practice is focused in the areas of commercial disputes and commercial litigation with particular focus on complex commercial contract and business tort cases. Michael Peterson's practice is also focused in the areas of commercial disputes and commercial litigation with particular emphasis on complex commercial contract and business tort cases, as well as construction litigation, environmental litigation and land use litigation. Mr. Peterson, a former prosecutor, represents clients in criminal matters, including criminal and civil forfeiture proceedings. Mr. Peterson also represents clients in commercial and residential real estate transactions, business and asset acquisitions and contract negotiation and preparation. Mr. Peterson is authorized to write title for Attorneys' Title Insurance Fund. Gustavo Lage's practice is concentrated in the areas of insurance defense, plaintiff s personal injury, commercial litigation and criminal defense. The partners are supported by two paralegals and a secretarial staff. Raul Salas' practice is concentrated in the areas of commercial and residential real estate transactions. Since graduation from the Florida State University College of Law, Mr. Salas has represented numerous companies in large commercial real estate transactions, from contract to closing. Mr. Fernandez joined the firm in October 2001. After his graduation from St. Thomas University School of Law, Mr. Fernandez worked as an assistant public defender for three years where he tried over seventeen cases to verdict. Mr. Fernandez’s practice is concentrated on criminal defense and civil litigation. As an Associate for SEPL, Craig H. Temple has specialized his practice in Civil litigation with emphasis on construction, environmental, land use and commercial law. SEPL's partners are admitted to practice in all state courts in Florida, as well as the Federal District Courts for the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts. SEPL uses a computer network utilizing Microsoft Word. SEPL also has its own internet domain. As such, SEPL has e-mail capability. SEPL also has optical scanner capability and a computer consultant on retainer.
